本书在梳理以往关于汉语限定性的争论的基础上,以Klein Wolfsgang关于何为限定性,限定性的功能为何的语义限定性理论为依据,将语义限定性、形态限定性与句法限定性三者区分开来,具体分析汉语句子中动词做主语、动词做宾语、兼语句、连动句中的限定性问题,并进行汉英对比。本书认为汉语中存在语义限定性,但与有显性时体标记的语言不同,汉语的语义限定性并未在句法和形态层面上显现出来。
