本书在我国社会发展的大背景下考察农民工群体的历史、现状和前途,在劳动体制视角下分析其背后的社会心理和制度逻辑,并通过农民工群体理解中国特色的发展道路。本书认为,自20世纪90年代以来,我国的农民工群体呈现结构化特征,即在相当长的历史时期中农民工在城镇劳动力市场中占据着比较稳定的比例。农民工群体结构化的微观心理基础是他们的客观生活状态和主观动机态度的“互构”,而他们的生活状态和动机态度又受到农村生产生活方式变迁、户籍制度改革、居民地位分化、城市非正规就业等制度因素的影响。
