自2006年以来,随着中非峰会影响的扩大,国际媒体开始集中关注中国在非洲的投资、商贸、和人员流动。然而,国际研究者们往往有意识或无意识地站在西方中心主义的立场来观察中国在非洲,而西方主流媒体的大量报道和评论中有大量并非无辜的误解,其中最核心的问题是把中国定性为“非洲的新殖民者。”本书的两位作者通过最近十年在非洲的访谈、问卷调查和数据收集,批驳了西方主流媒体关于“中国在非洲”的论述,阐述了他们自己的调研发现和观点。
