Governance in Anglophone West Africa: Challenges and Responses

As there are complex and daunting developmental challenges facing African countries with respect to an effective and efficient public sectors and public services delivery, there is growing need to research on how good governance can be attained in Africa. Focusing on Anglophone West African countries, especially taking Ghana as case study, the book is principally about how to have the challenges facing African public sectors identified and sorted out accordingly. It covers a wide range of topics from public administration in Anglophone West Africa, public service delivery through decentralization in Ghana and risks and countermeasures of Chinese enterprises’ international industrial capacity cooperation with Africa. Our contents for composing the book are divided into three chapters. Chapter One discusses the nature, prospects and challenges of public administration in five Anglophone West African countries. Chapter Two explores how to enhance public service delivery through decentralization in Ghana by focusing on the Bosomtwe District to root out the reasons for the failure of decentralized governance to enhance effective delivery of basic public services and to find the solutions accordingly. Chapter Three examines the potential risks for Chinese enterprises’ international industrial capacity cooperation with Africa by using PEST tool and propose countermeasures accordingly.
