简 介：Following the IV Party congress in 1986 defined as the new intergraded policy and open-door policy, tourism has gradually raised. The government has identified and declared the implementation, development and promotion of cultural, natural and historical tourism as to foster the growth in tourism and other service sectors. The government has dedicated its efforts in developing infrastructures such as the construction of the roads to link all northern, central and southern parts. For 45 years, the government has been attempting to extend more entry and exist checkpoints in various parts in order to link with many different countries. In addition, visa exemption for some member countries have been granted. Airport facilities have been upgraded to foster the growth in tourism. At present, there are a total of 15 international checkpoints. Tourists are able get visa on arrival along with the 13 checkpoints. There are now three international airports in Vientiane Capital, Luang Prabang and Pakse. Visa exemption has been granted for seven countries, except Indonesia and Myanmar.

Exchange between Laos and China Through Tourism and Economic Cooperation 收藏

简 介：Economic and cultural relations between China and Laos have constantly been developing with great achievements in such fields as trade and investment over half a century since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Now China is the second-largest trade partner, the largest foreign investor, and the largest aid provider of Laos, and Laos is the third largest destination of China’s investment in ASEAN countries. The Visit Laos-China Year 2019 was launched on Jan 25, 2019 in Vientiane, the capital. Laos has announced plans to draw more Chinese tourists to the landlocked country that stands at the heart of the Mekong Region. Laos situated in the Mekong River Basin, Laos is rich in sightseeing resources, boasting 1,900 tourism sites including 1,000 natural scenic spots, 534 cultural heritage sites and about 300 places of historic relics. The beautiful scenery and simple and natural environment make tourism the country’s second largest pillar industry after mining. The Lao Government predicts that there will be over 6.2 million tourists to visit the country in 2020 and its tourism revenue will reach 1 billion U.S. dollars. Based on an analysis of this trend and other developments, it is very likely that Chinese tourist arrivals will account for a bigger share of the Lao tourism market. This is due to the emerging middle class in China. Chinese people are becoming wealthier and this will enable them to travel around the region, including the Mekong countries.

简 介：The International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) define a public library as “an organization established, supported and funded by the community, either through local, regional or national government or through some other form of community organization.” It provides access to knowledge, information and works of the imagination through a range resources and services and is equally available to all members of the community regardless of race, nationality, age, gender, religion, language, disability, economic and employment status and educational attainment. It exists to serve communities, a “democratic equalizer, open to all and providing access to information that helps people improve their individual, family, and community lives.” In many jurisdictions, public library services contribute to youth development, community health, agriculture, and community economic wellbeing. Aptly put the IFLA UNESCO Public Library Manifesto says: “The public library, the local gateway to knowledge, provides a basic condition for lifelong learning, independent decision-making and cultural development of the individual and social groups.”

简 介：“All men have been created to carry forward an ever-advancing civilization.” (Bahá’u’lláh) In Myanmar, like most parts of the world, most parents are not fully aware of the changes and potential in the teenagers and often treat them as a child, and more often than not, they are labeled as being rebellious. Indeed, we often live through this critical age without realizing the importance of this age and end up not having prepared enough for ourselves. Parents as well as society often do the same with the teenager by not including them in the consultation or discussion in important matters, which might hinder the development of their potential and consciousness. However, there has been some budding efforts to do something about the situation mentioned above. This paper is an attempt to share some of the concepts and practices of Spiritual Empowerment Program for Junior Youth (JY) in Myanmar as part of the world-wide Baha’i communities’ efforts for community building. In this case, Junior Youth (JY) are aged between 12 -15 and they are no longer regarded as children, but they are not to be treated as youths either. The age group of JY is characterized as the spring time of life with the full power and potential, as mentioned in the Baha’i writings.
